Enchanted Cooking: Nutrition of the Soul

Once upon a time people sang to the seeds during planting and loved the roots free as the earth released them during harvest. Learn skills of intense and gentle focus in order to enhance every aspect of your life, beginning with self-nourishment. Together we will purposefully make food delicious while deconstructing the widespread, contemporary anxiety that it is doing us harm. This workshop is not about nutrition, rather the experience of love as a conscious action during food preparation, in order to stay healthy and happy forever.
After undertaking shamanic journeys to the land spirits of our food, we will re-enchant raw plant materials with their ancestral dreams as we cook and bake together. As we explore soul nutrition and the role of sacred food, we will practice the skills of singing the seeds and animative breathing as well as the art of composing the palate/palette of a meal...whose ingredients become a metaphor for the wholly-lived, delicious life.

Women's Work: Creating Sacred Textiles

Rediscover and re-stitch the strong and beautiful threads in your female family line while learning basic techniques of needlework practiced by our mother ancestors. Modern fiction tells us that women were bored and confined by household and textile arts, and yet our world is filled with the prodigious evidence of their precise, exquisite, and community-bound work. These oft-forgotten crafts hold sacred stories, forms of meditation, and poetic metaphor that women have shared for millenia. Learn best how to honor your distaff line and the mother well by learning the repetitive skills which comprised how women historically spent much of their time, as well as how women traditionally enlivened their work with magical symbolism and enchantment.
In journeys to non-ordinary reality we will begin to define our own personal imagery, and then we will work shamanically to allow our numinous guides and allies to be expressed through our pieces of textile art while designing small, one-of-a-kind objects sparkling with our unique ancestral and spiritual identities.
